Harvest the heat. Cut the carbon.

Convert industrial waste heat into sustainable energy with proven heat harvester technology

The Challenge We Solve

3.1 Global Challenge: Carbon Emissions

Carbon emissions remain one of the most pressing global challenges of our time. The combustion of fossil fuels for energy, heating, and industrial processes contributes significantly to greenhouse gas emissions, accelerating climate change and environmental degradation.

Despite international efforts to curb emissions, global carbon output continues to rise, threatening ecosystems, public health, and long-term economic stability. Several alternative technologies are being implemented; however, in many instances, the financial implications make widespread adoption impractical for customers, and current government infrastructure is often insufficient to support such changes.

It is imperative to address carbon emission reduction immediately and introduce more economically viable solutions as we transition toward a greener future.

3.2 UK-Specific Challenge: Cost of Living and Gas Prices

In the United Kingdom, the cost-of-living crisis has been exacerbated by volatile energy markets and rising gas prices. All businesses and public sectors, especially local councils, hospitality, manufacturing, and retail, face mounting operational costs due to inefficient energy usage. Businesses are under pressure to reduce expenses while also meeting sustainability targets.

Many alternative green technologies require considerable time and financial investment for first time installations, as well as the removal of existing systems such as boilers or HVAC units. In addition, in some cases, government infrastructure is not yet equipped to fully support the electricity demands of these systems.

The combination of elevated energy expenses and environmental considerations highlights the necessity for immediate innovative and cost-efficient solutions using todayโ€™s technology.

4. Solution

Over the past two years, in collaboration with Robert Gordon University, we have developed and validated an Air to Flue Gas Heat Recovery Device (AFHR). This innovative solution utilises waste heat to deliver hot air, thereby increasing the ambient temperature of buildings.

As a result, our customers experience up to a 10% reduction in gas consumption and carbon emissions per modular unit, with potential savings reaching 20% when two devices are installed per boiler.

Our technology is designed as a plug-and-play device that integrates seamlessly into existing boiler or HVAC systems. By creating a hybrid heating system that combines traditional "wet heating" radiators with modern heating ventilation, our Air FGHR device offers enhanced energy efficiency.

All this can be controlled and monitored via our online application. This will enable our customers to control the devices and acquire documentation about their carbon emission and gas savings.

The device is fully scalable and compatible with heating systems powered by gas, oil, or wood combustion, making it suitable for deployment in any building, industrial setting, or geographic location.

About Highland Heat Harvesters

Pioneering the future of sustainable energy through waste heat recovery

Our Mission

To revolutionize industrial energy efficiency by transforming waste heat into valuable, sustainable energy resources, helping businesses reduce costs while protecting our planet.

Our Story

Highland Heat Harvesters was founded in 2015 by energy engineers Brendon O'Toole and Gerard Arnold, who recognized the massive opportunity in industrial waste heat recovery. After years of research and development, they created a breakthrough thermal exchange technology that achieves unprecedented efficiency rates.

Today, we've grown from a small startup to an industry leader with over 500 installations worldwide. Our technology has prevented millions of tons of CO2 emissions while saving our clients hundreds of millions in energy costs.

We're driven by the belief that industrial efficiency and environmental responsibility go hand in hand. Every kilowatt of waste heat we recover is a step toward a more sustainable future.
